Dr. Xufeng Zhang received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Yale University in 2016. After graduation, he joined Argonne National Laboratory as the Nikola Tesla Named Postdoctoral Fellow, and later as an Assistant Scientist from 2018 to 2021. Dr. Zhang also held a joint appointment at the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering at University of Chicago and is a member of the Center for Novel Pathways to Quantum Coherence in Materials for Energy. He has a diverse research interest in device physics and applications, with a main focus on experimental study of spin wave dynamics and magnonic devices hybridized with microwave/photonics/mechanics for coherent and quantum information processing. He has co-authored on more than 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, including Nature, Physical Review Letters, Nature Communications, Science Advances, Nano Letters, Optica, etc., and has lead and participated in multiple grants from DOE (BES, 1x co-lead; ANL LDRD, 1x lead, 2x co-PI), DARPA (MTO, 1x lead), NSF (2x co-PI), etc. He is on the advisory board for multiple journals including IEEE Transactions on Quantum Engineering and Materials Today Electronics.
